CHEERLEADING FAQ'S

2017

 

1.  When is registration open?

Registration opens March 15 and closes May 15

PLEASE NOTE: Parker Hawks is looking for coaches in 6-8th grade.  Early registration is encouraged. All registrants will be on a wait list until coaches are found. Please consider volunteering.

2.  How much is the cheerleading season?

Registration is $185 per cheerleader plus uniform. Any girl placed on a roster after May 15th will pay a $25 late fee.

Complete new uniforms are approximately $185 per cheerleader.  Uniforms wil only need to be purchased if you are new to the program or last years uniform doesn't fit.   All girls will be required to buy new shoes and bows. Uniforms include shell, skirt, spandex panties, jacket, shoes, socks and hair bows.

3.  When does the season start?

The season starts the beginning of August and will conclude after the Super Bowl Mid November.

4.  How many practices a week will there be?

There will be 3 practices a week (weather permitting) the first two weeks. After that, there will be 2 practices per week. Practices are at the coaches discretion. Parents cannot request day/time or location of practice.

5.  How long are practices?

Most practices will be 1.5 - 2 hours. Coaches will relay practice information to you at the start of the season.

6.  When & where will practice be?

Practice location to be determined and will be communicated by your coach.  Night of the week will be determined by field availability and age of cheerleader and will be set prior to the season starting.  Field permits are requested in May for the fall season. All practices will be held in Parker.

7.  Are Parker Hawks Cheerleaders participating in competitions this season?

No competitions will be done in 2017. (only side line cheer)

8.  What are the age ranges for cheerleading?

Cheerleading will be open to ages 5-14. (15 year olds are allowed in 8th grade)

MUST BE 5 BY THE AGE CUT JULY 15.

NO HIGH SCHOOLERS

 

9.  Can I request a coach or squad?

Yes. We will try to honor as many requests as we can, however, please remember not all requests can be honored.

 

10.  Do you train your coaches?

                    Yes we will have training and support for any parents that volunteer to coach. We will be running all team practices together the first two weeks. This ensures the coaches learn the cheers, stretching, stunts, etc. Please contact: cheerleading@parkerhawks.org for more details.

11.  Does my child need previous cheer experience?

           No, we will teach the necessary skills during the season 

 

12.  How many football games will there be?

 

Games will start late August and there will be one game a week typically on Saturdays.  Games will run mid to late November. Sideline cheer will be finished prior to Thanksgiving.

 

13.  How do Uniform Fittings Work

There will be 3 different uniform fittings at the Parker Hawks office in May.  All girls will be required to be at a fitting to try on their uniform even if you plan on using last year's uniform.  This will allow us to be sure we don't end up with skirts or tops that are too short and do not fit properly.  For those who are getting new uniforms we will have a set of each size for you to try on so that we can order the correct size. It will also allow for shoe fittings for everyone.  Dates of fittings will be posted late April and will be communicated to you by your coach.

 

14. Why is my daughter on a wait list?

All registrants are placed on a wait list until coaches are found. When a coach is found for your daughter's age group and we have a roster spot for your daughter you will be notified via e-mail. You will have 3 days to submit payment. If payment has not been received, we will offer the roster spot to the next girl on the wait list. Girls will be removed from the wait list when space is available based on the number of parents that volunteer to coach. Early registration is encouraged. Girls will be taken in the order of registration.
